Mini-Notbook Sony Vaio P gets touchpad and acceleration sensor

Sony launches a new version of its mini-notbook Vaio P. The resolution of the 8-inch screen is small as in the first version of 1600 x 768 pixels. The most striking thing about the new generation of the Sony Vaio P are the unusually bright colors. With a screen measuring only 8 inches, the Sony Vaio P is considerably smaller than normal with 10.1 inch display-equipped netbooks, but it is much more powerful. The 24.5 x 12 x 2 inches small, and only 632 grams easy mini-notebook comes as the main processor is an Intel Atom Z540 1.86 GHz clock speed, the memory used at least 2 GB. The new Sony Vaio P has a 64 GB solid state disk instead of the 60-GB hard disk in the previous model.

Other features of the small Sony notebooks include an Intel GMA 500 graphics chip, Wi-Fi for fast n-standard, Webcam, microphone, USB ports, card reader, 2.1 with EDR Bluetoth, UMTS with HSPA (for 7.2 Mb / s downstream and 2 Mbit / s upstream), GPRS and EDGE are also supported. A highlight is the S-equipped GPS module with digital compass. Useful is the motion sensor that provides for an adjustment of the screen display, depending on location. For example, the Sony Vaio P is for reading long texts are simply rotated by 90 degrees. The display brightness is automatically adjusted light conditions in the area.

New and very interesting: instead of a trackpoint, the new version of the Sony Vaio P on a screen frame built right into the touchpad, the mouse buttons are located opposite each other on the left. This leaves more room for the keyboard and the operation is easier in situations where you can leave the mini-notebook or not want. The operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium for use. The new Vaio P is expected to cost € 900 in the base version.
